Commissions
A piece of commissioned furniture should exactly fulfil your requirements, displaying a high level of craftsmanship and enhancing the environment in which it is placed. It should reflect your personal and individual tastes and be something very unique and special.
The process begins with an informal discussion simply to gain an idea of the function of the piece, if there is a particular style or design, the timbers to be used and the budget to be worked to. This usually takes place at the client’s home or the location in which the piece is to be placed. From this Steve can prepare drawings and timber samples to present ideas at a second meeting.
Upon acceptance of a design, the budget, timescale and delivery date is agreed. A deposit of 25% to 40% (dependant on the commission) is then payable, the work is scheduled into the workshop and timbers are sourced. Final payment is made on delivery.
Steve is keen to encourage clients to visit the workshop to see the work in progress. It is important that the whole experience is enjoyable and rewarding and that a client’s level of involvement is exactly as they would wish.
Contact Steve if you would like to discuss your ideas for a commission.
